Carolyn Dukes has been a health and safety professional for over 15 years. She is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), and a registered OSHCR consultant. Carolyn’s safety management experience is wide-ranging and includes time spent working in the education sector, healthcare and law enforcement.



Paul Smith

Paul Smith is a widely experienced and pragmatic health and safety professional and presenter/trainer. He is committed to finding and implementing practical solutions to the health and safety issues that organisations face. He's also served as a Chair of Governors and Health and Safety Governor at his local school, Crich (CE) Infants in Derbyshire.

A former HSE Inspector specialising in the construction industry, he holds an MA degree as well as a postgraduate Diploma in occupational safety and health. Paul is a Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner. He is co-author of the book, ‘Looking after Corporate Health’, and has written numerous safety articles.

Most recently, Paul was Head of Safety, Health and Environment at the E.ON Engineering Academy, where he developed and delivered training programmes. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant/trainer for leading organisations including Marsh Risk Consulting, Sedgwick and AMI Occupational Health where his projects included giving practical guidance to companies on how to improve their health and safety standards.

Paul now works as a health and safety consultant and author. He's recently completed a major project looking at safety standards in FE colleges. This was sponsored by EU Skills, funded by the Welsh Government, and aims to help FE colleges be well-placed to benefit from industry investment in renewable energy.
